PRIVATE LESSONS

Stash maintains a full roster of private students and offers both online and in-person lessons at his home studio in Boston. Lessons focus on bluegrass and jazz improvisation through the lens of ear training, music theory, technique and building repertoire. Students range from beginner to advanced levels and all instruments are welcome. Stash teaches workshops and camps nationally and internationally and is a regular guest instructor at the American Roots Program at Berklee College of Music.

Stash also maintains an active Patreon page that publishes monthly workshops on improvisation, theory and repertoire.

Lesson Philosophy

Consistent lessons guarantee progress on the student’s musical journey. Each lesson plan is individually crafted to fit the students’ abilities and needs. After each lesson, the student will leave with a specific task to fulfill in the following week(s). These tasks are thoughtfully and strategically assigned to help the student meet their musical goals and with consistent practice.

Lessons involve a baseline of rudimentary information including:

  • Arpeggios

  • Ear-Training

  • Repertoire

  • Music Vocabulary Practice
